Teitel
and Wilson offer this easy to understand explanation of what genetically
engineered foods are and how they work. They explain product testing
and labeling as well as human health and ecological implications.
From pest and chemical resistance to growth hormones, from allergens
to declining nutritional content, the authors cover it all. The
book is an extremely informative read for consumers new to the
concept of genetically modified foods. But it’s not all
gloom and doom - it also offers chapters with illustrations that
guide us in learning how to make wise food choices for our families.
Three appendices list numerous resources for more information.
